Method
- Heat the oven to 400°F.
- Line an 18x13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place one puff pastry sheet on the prepared baking sheet.
- Spread the cranberry sauce over it, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
- Distribute the Brie evenly over the sauce.
- Place the second pastry sheet on top and press gently around the filling and along the edges to help the sheets adhere.
- Cut the pastry crosswise into 10 strips about 1 inch wide.
- Twist each strip 3 to 4 times and arrange them spaced apart on the baking sheet; tuck the ends underneath if needed.
- Beat the egg with the water.
- Brush the egg mixture over the twists.
- Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, until puffed and deep golden brown.
- Let the twists rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Keep the pastry cold while assembling for the flakiest twists. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; freezer: yes, freeze baked twists and reheat until warm. For a dairy-free swap, use dairy-free Brie and puff pastry, and replace the egg wash with plant milk.
