Air Fryer Honey Glazed Carrots with Garlic and Thyme

Air fryer honey glazed carrots are browned in spots, tender, and coated in a glossy butter-honey glaze with garlic and fresh thyme. Air-frying the carrots first gives them caramelized edges before a quick final cook sets the glaze.

Ingredients

For the carrots
  • 1 lb carrots peeled and cut into 1/2-inch-thick diagonal slices
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.25 tsp kosher salt
  • 0.125 tsp black pepper
For the glaze
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp thyme fresh leaves

Equipment

  • 1 5-quart air fryer

Method

Air-fry the carrots
  1. Preheat a 5-quart air fryer to 380°F for 3 minutes.
  2. Toss the carrots with the olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. Arrange the carrots in the air fryer basket.
  4. Air-fry for 12–16 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the carrots are browned in spots and tender when pierced with a fork.
Make the glaze
  1. Melt the butter in a small microwave-safe bowl, about 15–20 seconds.
  2. Stir in the honey, garlic, and thyme.
Glaze and finish
  1. Toss the hot carrots with the glaze in a bowl.
  2. Return the carrots to the air fryer basket.
  3. Air-fry for 2–3 minutes, shaking once, until glossy and fragrant.

Notes

For the best browning, arrange the carrots in an even layer in the air fryer basket. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days; freezing is not recommended because the carrots may soften. For a dairy-free version, use a plant-based butter alternative.
