Ingredients

  • 1 cooking spray nonstick, for greasing
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup condensed
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 0.125 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz) cut green beans drained
  • 1.33 cups French fried onions divided

Equipment

  • 1 1 1/2-quart baking dish

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Coat a 1 1/2-quart baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. In a large bowl, stir together the soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Fold in the green beans and 1 cup of the French fried onions.
  5. Spread the mixture in the prepared dish.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes, until hot and bubbling.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1/3 cup French fried onions over the casserole.
  8. Bake for 5 minutes, until the onions are lightly browned.

Notes

For the crispest topping, add the reserved onions only for the final 5 minutes. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended because the creamy sauce can separate. Use gluten-free cream of mushroom soup and gluten-free fried onions for a gluten-free variation.
