Ingredients

For the filling
  • 2 package (3.9 oz) chocolate pudding mix instant
  • 3 cup milk cold
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese softened
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping frozen, thawed
For the Oreo dirt
  • 1 package (14.3 oz) Oreo cookies
For the decorations
  • 8 Milano cookies
  • 1 tube black decorating icing
  • 12 gummy worms

Equipment

  • 1 4-quart trifle bowl

Method

Make the filling
  1. Whisk the pudding mixes with the cold milk in a large bowl for 2 minutes.
  2. Let the pudding mixture stand for 5 minutes until thickened.
  3. Beat the cream cheese and butter in a separate large bowl until smooth.
  4. Beat in the powdered sugar.
  5. Fold in the whipped topping and thickened pudding until evenly combined.
Assemble and chill
  1. Crush the Oreos into fine crumbs in a large resealable bag with a rolling pin.
  2. Spoon one-third of the crumbs into the bottom of a 4-quart trifle bowl, top with half the filling, add another third of the crumbs, then the remaining filling and crumbs.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Decorate
  1. Use the icing to write “RIP” on the Milano cookies.
  2. Let the icing set for 5 minutes.
  3. Push the cookies into the top of the trifle like tombstones.
  4. Arrange the gummy worms over the crumbs.

Notes

For neat tombstones, let the icing set fully before pushing the Milano cookies into the trifle. Cover and refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended because the creamy layers and cookie decorations can lose their texture. For a gluten-free variation, use gluten-free sandwich cookies and gluten-free tombstone cookies.
