Ingredients

  • 1 nonstick cooking spray for the pan
  • 0.5 lb pork sausage bulk
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 can (8 oz) crescent dough sheets refrigerated

Equipment

  • 1 24-cup mini muffin pan

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Coat a 24-cup mini muffin pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. Cook the bulk pork sausage in a skillet over medium heat for 8–10 minutes, breaking it into small crumbles, until browned and it reaches 160°F.
  4. Drain the sausage well.
  5. Stir the warm sausage and softened cream cheese together in a medium bowl until evenly combined.
  6. Unroll the refrigerated crescent dough sheets and cut each into 12 pieces.
  7. Press one piece into each muffin cup.
  8. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of filling into each.
  9. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the dough is puffed and golden brown.
  10. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes before removing.

Notes

Drain the sausage well to help keep the dough from getting soggy. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; freeze for up to 2 months. For a leaner option, use turkey sausage.
