Ingredients

  • 0.5 lb breakfast sausage
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

Equipment

  • 1 18x13-inch baking sheet
  • 1 12-inch skillet

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Line an 18x13-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Cook the sausage in a 12-inch skillet over medium heat for 6 to 8 minutes, breaking it into small pieces, until browned and it reaches 160°F.
  4. Drain excess fat.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the cream cheese until smooth.
  6. Let the filling cool for about 10 minutes.
  7. Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles.
  8. Divide the filling evenly among the triangles, spreading it over the wide ends and leaving a small border around the edges.
  9. Roll each triangle from the wide end toward the point and place it point-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until golden brown.
  11. Let the rolls rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For neat rolls, leave the small border around each triangle so the filling stays inside as it bakes. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; these rolls can be frozen. Turkey breakfast sausage can replace the pork sausage if desired.
